People die with the “sanctity of life” if they did not commit the following: murder, incest, worshipping other gods/faith.

Jewish cemetery in Warsaw

At this cemetery men had to wear a headcover.  We were told that the size of a tombstone as well as its location tells us how important that person was.  For example, the bigger the tombstone, the more important or big shot this person was.  Additionally, if the tombstone was placed near the entrance or on main walkway, this person must have been very important at that time. Jews who commit suicide cannot be buried inside a Jewish cemetery.  Ironically, the suicide rate during Holocaust was low among the Jews. It was also customary to wash hands before leaving a Jewish cemetery to remain clean and pure.

Lazaro Zamenhof whose grave was in this cemetery; developed a language he wanted the world to consider universal, the Esperanto

Outside the cemetery was a monument to commemorate Janusza Korczaka, the person who helped save many children and opened an orphanage, but perished in the Holocaust.

On the monument it states, “In memory of 1 million Jewish children, murdered by Nazi German Barbarians”

A well-known rabbi’s grave was built as such to make sure the grave is protected, as well as to protect those who are praying to the rabbi.
